Biography

I was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1969 and grew up in a rural village. By the time I graduated from school in 1988, I had abandoned my previous plan to pursue a career in natural sciences; instead, I turned my hobbies - photography and writing - into a full-time profession.

For over 20 years now, my free-lance business is based primarily on stock photography. I cooperate with specialised photo agencies that represent my work internationally.

The aim to provide high quality service beyond mere pictures and copy has soon stirred my interest in visual design, typography, and production. By taking an active role in the entire process from the concept to the finished product, I can offer highly individual and tightly controlled solutions for a wide range of visual media.

To successfully cope with demanding tasks, I rely on state-of-the-art equipment - both for photography and data processing. Moreover, I take the necessary time and care when "good enough quality" will not do justice to your project. I strive for premium quality to whatever extent the situation allows.

I live in a small country, but my photo files and business approach are more global in scope. I speak German, English, French and Spanish.

To get more thoroughly involved with digital imaging, I started studying computer science at the renowned ETH Zurich in autumn 2009. After the first two semesters, however, it turned out that the full-time course left me no time at all to pursue my other interests and that my talent is more of a creative and practical nature than a mathematically abstract one. Therefore, I have decided to switch to a part-time course in the graphic industry and to further develop my IT skills selectively on my own. I have compiled some links on computer science and programming on a separate web site (partly in German): cs.topics.ch.
